Batch Processing
TakeForge is batch-first: every Content Browser action operates on the entire selection.
Multi-select in the Content Browser
Select any number of Animation Sequences → right-click → TakeForge → action.
- The options dialog appears once for the whole batch, not per asset.
- All sequences are processed with those settings; failures are collected and reported together at the end without aborting the rest.
- With Create New Assets on, every new copy is selected in the Content Browser when the batch finishes.
- One summary notification: "TakeForge: created 20 animations."
Per-action batch semantics
| Action | On a multi-selection |
|---|---|
| Exact / Smoothed / In Place | Same settings applied to each - fully batch-safe |
| Make Loopable | Same blend window for each - batch-safe |
| Align Travel Direction | Each take measured and rotated individually - batch-safe |
| Retime to Speed | Every clip retimed to the same target speed ("all walks at 150") |
| Trim / Split | The same frame range / cut frames applied to all - only for uniform recordings |
| Check Take | Reports for the first 3 assets |
Trim ranges are inherently per-take. Batch-trim only when your recordings share a timeline (e.g. re-exports of the same take); otherwise trim one at a time.
Whole folders: editor Python
For unbounded batches, script it - every action is exposed via
TakeForgeLibrary:
import unreal
assets = unreal.EditorAssetLibrary.list_assets("/Game/Mocap/Session04")
for path in assets:
seq = unreal.load_asset(path)
if isinstance(seq, unreal.AnimSequence):
ok, err = unreal.TakeForgeLibrary.apply_root_motion(
seq, unreal.TakeForgeMode.SMOOTHED_ROOT_MOTION)
print(f"{path}: {'ok' if ok else err}")
The scripting functions modify the given asset directly - duplicate first
(e.g. EditorAssetLibrary.duplicate_asset) if you want the non-destructive
behavior of the menu actions.
Silent runs
Uncheck Show Options Dialog (in the dialog itself or Editor Preferences) to skip the per-action dialog and run everything with your saved settings - useful when you're processing the tenth folder of the day with identical parameters.
